The Lake

It stretched out far
So far and wide
The lake within the hills
I watched the water flow
And flow
As the rain rippled on it's surface
It ebbed and flowed
And down the birds swooped
Swooped low to catch a treat
And the birds returned to
Whence they perched
And devoured their catch
As the grey clouds moved
To reveal the sun
In its gaseous glowing glory
I looked above to see the sky
They sky so filled with fury
The fury of the storm that roared
The storm that rumbled out
And the day by the lake
That chance brought about
Brought joy and calm
And fury and rage
But beauty... but beauty
Was never in doubt
